Get to Know Me
As a DPS Special Educator
I began my career in Denver Public Schools as a high school Special Educator, working with students who were too often left behind by the system. My classroom served some of Denver’s most disenfranchised youth—students with learning differences, students on probation or parole, teen mothers, and young people aging out of public education supports. I advocated. I helped students access the services they deserved, navigate complex systems, and see themselves as scholars and future graduates. That experience still drives my commitment to equity and inclusion in every school.
As a DPS Central Office Administrator
I stepped into district leadership to write and support policies that reflect the voices of all students, families, and educators. I co-authored and helped implement the Know Justice, Know Peace resolution. I helped lead the development of the Black Excellence Resolution & Plan. I championed the early stages of La Raza Report, supporting strategies to advance culturally responsive practices for Latino students. I also worked to hold leaders—including superintendents and executive directors—accountable to the communities they serve and the promises that they made.
As a DPS Dad
DPS is not only where I started my career—it’s where my partner and I chose to send our son. As an adoptive parent, I know firsthand how critical it is for schools to see and support the whole child. Our son receives services through an Individualized Education Program (IEP), and I’ve advocated for, and collaborated with, our son’s educators to ensure his unique needs are met with dignity, equity, and care. I serve as president of our school’s Collaborative School Committee (CSC). I’ve worked to strengthen family-school partnerships and push for inclusive decision-making. I’ve also volunteered to support immigrant and refugee families as they navigate the DPS system.
As a DPS Board Member- District 3
I’m running for the Denver Public Schools Board of Education because I believe policy should reflect the lived experiences of our families, educators, and students. The Board is where decisions are made that shape every classroom, every budget, and every child’s opportunity to succeed. I want to bring both deep professional experience and a parent’s perspective to those decisions. District 3 is my home. It’s where I live and where I’m raising my son. I’ve walked the halls of our schools, served on our committees, worked with educators, and supported our families—because I’m invested in our success. Our community deserves a representative who will listen, act, and lead with both accountability and care. That’s what I’m ready to do.
In short, I’m running because I believe every child deserves a school that meets their needs, values their identity, and helps them thrive.
